Data Deletion Policy

You can ask AI off the shelf to delete your account and the personal data associated with it at any time. This page explains how to make a request, what we delete, and how long it takes. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

How to request deletion

Option 1: from your account

1. Sign in to AI off the shelf.
2. Go to Settings → Account.
3. Select Delete account and confirm.

Option 2: by email

Email privacy@aiofftheshelf.com with the subject “Data deletion request”, sent from the email address on your account. If you cannot send from that address, tell us and we will verify your identity another way before acting on the request.

If you signed in with Google or another provider

Deleting your AI off the shelf account removes the data we hold. To also stop the provider from sharing data with us, remove AI off the shelf from the connected apps in that provider’s account settings (for Google, visit your Google Account → Security → Third-party apps & services).

What we delete

• Your account profile: name, email address, password hash, and sign-in provider identifiers.
• Your reading lists, saved books, followed genres, notes, and reviews.
• Your email preferences, and your address from our mailing lists.
• Usage and device data linked to your account.

What we may keep

We may keep limited information when we have a legitimate reason or a legal duty to do so:

• records needed to meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations;
• information needed to prevent fraud or abuse, or to resolve disputes;
• aggregated or de-identified data that can no longer be linked to you, such as how many people saved a particular book;
• a minimal record that you asked for deletion, so we can honor the request.

Timeline

• Confirmation: we acknowledge email requests within 7 days.
• Deletion from active systems: within 30 days of confirming your request. Your account is deactivated straight away while this happens.
• Backups: deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for up to 90 days until they are overwritten. It is not used during that time.

We will email you when deletion is complete.

Before you delete

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you want to keep your reading lists, export them first from Settings → Account → Export data, or ask us for a copy.

Requests on someone else’s behalf

An authorized agent may submit a request for you. We will ask for proof of authorization and may ask you to confirm your identity directly.
